The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek visits Lady Gowrie Headstart Kindergarten – Vincent centre

We were pleased to welcome the Honourable John-Paul Langbroek to the Lady Gowrie Headstart Kindergarten – Vincent centre in Townsville on Tuesday 3rd February 2026. Channel 7 were there to capture the Minister’s visits and comments about Free Kindy to all Queenslanders.

We are looking forward to further service the local community with Currajong re-re- opening soon.

New Initiatives Launched by the Queensland Government

The Queensland Government has introduced a number of initiatives to support families and children in their early years. These reforms are designed to make access to quality early learning more accessible, consistent and affordable for Queensland families, and we know these changes matter to the families we support every day.

3 Day Guarantee – Greater Access to Subsidised Early Learning

One of the key new initiatives is the 3 Day Guarantee for the Child Care Subsidy. From January 2026, eligible families will be able to access subsidised early learning for at least three days per week for each child, without needing to meet specific activity requirements (such as work or study hours).

This means more consistency and peace of mind for families, with every child able to participate in early learning opportunities that support their development across key areas such as wellbeing, communication and social skills.

Free Kindy in Queensland – Supporting Families and Children’s Learning

Another significant initiative was the Free Kindy for Queensland families introduced in 2024. This program provides eligible children with access to free kindergarten programs in the year before school, which means more children can benefit from high-quality early learning without the barrier of out-of-pocket costs.

Early childhood education not only supports school readiness, but also nurtures children’s confidence, curiosity and sense of belonging – foundations that stay with them long into their schooling years.

We are a not for-profit organisation providing high quality childcare and Kindergarten programs, with a strong heritage in early childhood education in Queensland and Australia.

The Brisbane Lady Gowrie Childcare Centre was established in 1940 as a demonstration centre for excellence in early childhood education and care. We continue to be Qld’s leading provider of Community Kindergarten and Long Day Care services and uphold the highest standards in childcare.

Lady Gowrie QLD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which our Kindergarten and childcare services are placed, and pay our respects to the elders, past and present, who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
