Recently, children in our Springhill precinct Kind Recently, children in our Springhill precinct Kindy program enjoyed a very special Kindy Uplift funded incursion. We were honoured to welcome Aunty Dale Chapman from My Dilly Bag and Sara Moore from Ocher Bee for a rich, hands-on cultural experience.

Aunty Dale introduced the children to the wonderful world of Bush Tucker, sharing knowledge about native foods, culture, and totems through engaging, sensory experiences. The children loved exploring, tasting, and learning through doing.

Sara Moore then guided the children in discovering Ochre, sharing its cultural significance and creating beautiful artworks together.

It was a meaningful day of connection, learning, and creativity, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to deepen the children’s understanding of culture in such an authentic way.

Independence doesn't happen overnight. It's built through small, everyday moments: pulling on shoes, packing away toys, or helping to make decisions about their world.

When we give children the time and space to try (with manageable elements of challenge), we're teaching them that they're capable. That effort matters. And that mistakes are part of learning.

Our days are built around a gentle rhythm – time for play, exploration, rest, and connection. There's group time for stories and songs, uninterrupted play where children lead, mealtimes shared with friends, and quiet moments to recharge.

Every routine is designed to help children feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
Every child is born curious. From mixing colours Every child is born curious.

From mixing colours to watching caterpillars transform, young learners are already thinking like scientists every day.

When we encourage that natural curiosity and give children the tools to explore, question, and discover, we're building the foundation for lifelong learning.

Science isn't something that starts later. It starts right here, with wonder.

Healthy screen habits start early with co-viewing, clear boundaries, and age-appropriate content.

When children learn to balance screen time with play, creativity, and connection, they develop a healthier relationship with technology that lasts.

We are a not for-profit organisation providing high quality childcare and Kindergarten programs, with a strong heritage in early childhood education in Queensland and Australia.

The Brisbane Lady Gowrie Childcare Centre was established in 1940 as a demonstration centre for excellence in early childhood education and care. We continue to be Qld’s leading provider of Community Kindergarten and Long Day Care services and uphold the highest standards in childcare.

Lady Gowrie QLD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which our Kindergarten and childcare services are placed, and pay our respects to the elders, past and present, who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
