Some children dive into new experiences with excit Some children dive into new experiences with excitement. Others need time to observe before joining in. Neither approach is better; they're simply different temperaments. Temperament describes natural patterns in how people respond to their world - spirited, intense, cautious, observant. Understanding your child's temperament helps you support them as they are, which can sometimes be different to our own ways of engaging with the world. Our educators observe each child's temperament and adapt their approach accordingly to ensure children feel safe & secure, and are able to express their true selves as they explore, learn and grow.
Recently, children in our Springhill precinct Kind Recently, children in our Springhill precinct Kindy program enjoyed a very special Kindy Uplift funded incursion. We were honoured to welcome Aunty Dale Chapman from My Dilly Bag and Sara Moore from Ocher Bee for a rich, hands-on cultural experience. Aunty Dale introduced the children to the wonderful world of Bush Tucker, sharing knowledge about native foods, culture, and totems through engaging, sensory experiences. The children loved exploring, tasting, and learning through doing. Sara Moore then guided the children in discovering Ochre, sharing its cultural significance and creating beautiful artworks together. It was a meaningful day of connection, learning, and creativity, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to deepen the children’s understanding of culture in such an authentic way.

It's built through small, everyday moments: pulling on shoes, packing away toys, or helping to make decisions about their world. When we give children the time and space to try (with manageable elements of challenge), we're teaching them that they're capable. That effort matters. And that mistakes are part of learning.
