We are seeking an assistant educator to work with our Kookaburras group (Monday, Tuesday, alternate Wednesday 8.30am to 2.30pm) in 2020.
This casual role will support two other assistants and the teacher in our group of 25 children.
Norman Park Kindy offers a child-led, nature and play-based kindergarten program and is set in expansive grounds to provide an indoor outdoor program, including bush excursions.

We are looking for an experienced Group Leader to run our afterhours Educational Program and Vacation Care Program. Essentially the successful candidate will have previous experience leading a group of children from 3 to 5 years of age within a childcare/kindergarten environment. Previous experience leading a Vacation Care program using My Time Our Place Framework is preferable but not essential. Training will be provided.

Indoors our 2 classrooms are large and modern, each with its own kitchen and storeroom. The Service is well resourced both indoors and outdoors.
This contract role is part-time for an initial 12-month period. Working every Mon/Tue/Wed from 1pm to 5.30pm and Thur/Frid from 3.00pm to 5.30pm. Vacation care hours will be 8.00am-5.30pm on a needs basis and excludes Christmas holiday break.
Essential Requirements for the role are as follows:
· Diploma childcare or equivalent
· Advanced knowledge of the National Quality Framework, the Early Years Learning Framework
· Knowledge of My Time Our Place Framework for school age children
· Current First Aid and Asthma/Anaphylaxis certificates
· Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
· The passion and ability to inspire, motivate and maintain a positive learning culture within the centre for children, their families and colleagues.
· Previous experience working in after school care program and vacation care preferable

About the role
Successful candidates will join our team and actively support continuity of learning within our Outside Hours Program, before and after our Kindergarten Program.
· Before Care hours: 7:00am – 9:00am

Flexible shifts to be negotiated each term totalling between 8 – 15hrs per week available.
Key tasks and responsibilities:

· Support the broader Kindy program by assisting with safety sweeps and setting up equipment in the outdoor learning environment.
· Preparing and serving simple afternoon tea snack.

Skills and experience
