Staverton Community Kindergarten
After Kindy Hours Care (AKHC) Educator / Assistant

Staverton Kindergarten has been providing high-quality early childhood education for more than 75 years and offers an enriching learning environment for children. Staverton is a not-for-profit community kindergarten affiliated with The Gowrie (QLD) Inc. Staverton has a caring and dedicated team of educators who strive for excellence in early childhood education through safe, guided and supported play.

The centre has two units with four groups of children attending a five day fortnight

The position:

  • Casual position commencing Monday 25th January 2021.
  • Working Monday to Friday 2.15pm – 5.30pm during term time.
  • Work with and support the Coordinator in the delivery of a high quality, inclusive and educational program in accordance with current Kindy policies and standards and specific directions of the Management Committee of Staverton.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Coordinator to implement an educational program in accordance with the national curriculum EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
  • Assist the Coordinator to observe, plan for and document learning with the children in the class.
  • Provide support and work collaboratively with other staff in the centre to maintain an efficient and well organised learning environment.
  • Develop meaningful and supportive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, colleagues, and management committee members.
  • Actively participate in the functioning of the centre, participating in events and professional development opportunities, becoming involved in the overall “wellbeing” of the centre community.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care and have some experience in early childhood settings.
  • Current Blue Card (Paid Employee).
  • Current Certificate in Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education & Care Setting – HLTAID004 or must be willing to obtain prior to commencement of position.
  • A caring, kind personality and dedication to caring for children.
  • Child protection training would be advantageous.

About The Positions

Inclusion Support Assistants

We are seeking applicants to fill potentially two vacancies as Inclusion Support Assistants during 2021, to assist in the delivery of the Queensland Government’s Inclusion Support Scheme.

Applicants for Inclusion Support roles will ideally have:

  • Cert III or Diploma in Children’s Services preferred, or similar (qualification must be recognised by ACECQA) or ‘actively studying towards’
  • Current Paid Blue Card (or willing to obtain one)
  • Up to date First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate/s.
  • Prior experience with Inclusion Support, but not essential

Casual Relief Early Childhood Teachers

We are also seeking applicants for casual relief teaching for 2021, with the days and hours to fluctuate based on the needs of the kindergarten. We require applicants who are available at short notice, and available to work most days of the week.

The following Qualifications for Casual Relief Teaching are essential:

  • Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (must meet ACECQA and QKFS requirements)
  • Current Queensland College of Teachers Registration
  • Current Suitability Card or Exemption Card for Registered Teachers
  • Current Senior First Aid including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
  • Current training in Child Protection

Selection Criteria
Each of these positions will require you to provide a quality educational program for the children and families in supporting positive outcomes for each individual child.

The successful candidate will be suitably qualified (as indicated above), and meet the following selection criteria:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in forming on-going professional relationships with families and stakeholders from the Service Community.
  • Dedication to age appropriate pedagogy and valuing early childhood education with the philosophy of learning through play.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and document a high quality, play-based early childhood program.
  • A passion for Nature Play.
  • A commitment to best practice and advocacy for children in our community.

Permanent Part Time Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced and dedicated Educator to join the Lawnton Kindergarten team as an Assistant, commencing in Term 2 of 2021.

About Lawnton Kindergarten:

Lawnton Kindergarten is a not-for-profit, double unit centre affiliated with Lady Gowrie Qld and has a reputation in the community for the high-quality programs we deliver to children 3-5 years of age.   We are rated ‘Exceeding’ in each of the seven quality areas of the National Quality Standards; most recently assessed in 2018. The kindergarten has a friendly and professional working environment, with experienced teachers and supporting staff who are committed to providing a safe, caring, and supportive early educational experience of the highest quality.

About the role:

  • The successful Educator will pride themselves on their passion and dedication for early childhood education in a learning environment, with a dedication to furthering their own learning as an early childhood professional.
  • The successful Educator will have exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with families, children and co-workers.
  • The successful Educator will have a Certificate III or higher qualification, with the skills and experience necessary to assist the Teacher in delivering a high-quality kindergarten program to children aged 3-5 years, in the year before Prep.
  • The successful Educator will be required to work 37.5 hours per fortnight on alternate Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • The successful Educator will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the duties as an Assistant educator and be a team player.
  • The successful Educator will need to demonstrate an understanding of the provision of a safe, well planned indoor and outdoor learning environment, and have a passion for creating and delivering stimulating and engaging learning environments.
  • The successful Educator must have an awareness of the National Quality Framework.
  • The successful Educator must be skilled with documenting observations of children’s behaviour and development in the form of learning stories.
  • The successful Educator must have the ability to implement a planned program, in collaboration with the teacher, ensuring the needs of individual children and the group are met.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent as recognised by ACECQA.
  • Current working with children (Queensland Blue Card or Exemption) and national police check.
  • Current First Aid, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma.
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience with Lady Gowrie or C&K kindergartens will be an advantage.

Stafford Heights Kindergarten is looking for an educator who is:

We have a role available for up to 15 hours per week over 3 days.

  • Permanent part time contract positions available
