When does Kindy start this year?
Kindy Enrolment Week: 25th May – 1 June
Lady Gowrie Queensland’s CEO Louise Jackson knows many new parents aren’t sure of the exact timing to send their kids to Kindy.
“We see families unsure of what is the right year and it can get a bit confusing,” she said.
“To make it easier we have created a dedicated Enrolment Week to ensure that the message gets out to the community so they get their kids enrolled and know for sure, which year their children can start kindy and when they need to enrol.
“Your child must be at least 4 years of age by 30 June, if they want to start kindy this year,” she said.
If your child is born between 1 July 2015 until 30 June 2016 then you can enrol for the 2020 year.
Lady Gowrie is one of the oldest and most respected names in early childhood education in Queensland and Australia.
There are over 100 Lady Gowrie Affiliated Community Kindergartens across Queensland providing services to more than 3000 families and children through 98 services statewide.
You can put your name on a waiting list before they are old enough to attend, and for some services you need to enrol as early as possible due to demand.
There is a handy kindy calculator on the Early Years count website which gives you a clear indication of what year your child needs to be enrolled in Kindy, Prep and then Year 1.
“We are here to help parents navigate what is right for their child,” Louise said.
