Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Update

Novel Coronavirus Update from Department of Education, Australian Government – 2/02/2020

Novel Coronavirus Update from Department of Education, Australian Government – 2/02/2020

Further updated advice regarding novel coronavirus, distributed by the Department of Education, Australian Government on Sunday the 2nd of February.

The Australian Government Department of Education and Department of Health published an updated factsheet for early childhood education and care services on managing the risk of the novel coronavirus.

The new medical advice is designed to prevent transmission of Coronavirus in cases where people are asymptomatic. This means that anyone who has (a) had contact with a confirmed case of the virus; or (b) returned from Hubei province (within the last 14 days) should isolate themselves in their homes for 14 days.

The Education Minister has said all state and territory ministers have been given the new advice and will ‘review their policies’ regarding school attendance. The government will advise all child care providers immediately.

We are a not for-profit organisation with a strong heritage in early childhood education in Queensland and Australia. The Brisbane Lady Gowrie Child Centre was established in 1940 as a demonstration centre for excellence in early childhood education and care.

Lady Gowrie QLD acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which our Services are placed, and pay our respects to the elders, past and present, who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
