Part Time Inclusion Support Educator Position
A position has become available to join the Staverton Kindergarten team in Term 2, 2024, commencing 15th April 2024. Hours of employment would be Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesday for 6 hours per day during term time 8:30am-2:30pm.
About Staverton Kindergarten
Staverton Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community kindergarten, with a caring and dedicated team of educators who strive for excellence in early childhood education through safe, guided and supported play. The centre has 2 units with 4 groups of children attending for a 5 day fortnight.
The position
The Inclusion Support position is responsible for ensuring that all the children in the class are able to participate and be included in all aspects of the kindergarten program. The position will report to the Nominated Supervisor of the centre who reports to the Management Committee.
Duties
● Assist a child with additional needs in inclusion and learning.
● Assist the teacher to implement a stimulating, learning rich program for kindergarten aged children, in accordance with the national curriculum EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
● Assist the children to access all parts of the environment and routine.
● Liaise with parents and encourage a partnership of learning and community.
● Write a weekly review of the child’s progress and programming.
● Provide support and work collaboratively with other staff in the centre to maintain an efficient and well organised learning environment.
● Develop meaningful and supportive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, colleagues, and management committee members.
● Actively participate in the functioning of the centre, participating in events and professional development opportunities, becoming involved in the overall “wellbeing” of the centre community.
Candidates must hold:
● Minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care and have some experience in early childhood settings.
● Knowledge of assisting children with additional needs would be beneficial.
● Current Blue Card (Paid Employee).
● Current Certificate in Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education & Care Setting – HLTAID004 or must be willing to obtain prior to commencement of position.
● A caring, kind personality and dedication to caring for children.
● An ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
● Child Protection Training would be advantageous.
