Assistant/Educator – Buderim Community Kindergarten

Buderim Community Kindergarten

Assistant/Educator – Permanent Part-Time

Buderim Community Kindergarten on the Sunshine Coast is looking for a kindergarten assistant/educator to join our team, starting mid-January 2027.

This is a permanent part-time role, working Thursdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays, 8:00am – 3:36pm (7.6 hours).

About us:

Buderim Community Kindergarten has been part of the heart of Buderim since 1973, delivering play-based early learning to local families for more than five decades. We run two groups each week, an early week group and a late week group, with 24 children in each. We are a Lady Gowrie Affiliated Community Kindergarten, giving us the backing and support of one of Queensland’s most respected early childhood organisations, and we’ve recently been awarded an “Exceeding” rating across all 7 areas of the National Quality Framework.

Our kindergarten sits on the land of the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people, on a beautiful, leafy property with plenty of outdoor space to explore. That connection to Country is something we weave into our everyday program, through the language, stories and nature-based play we share with the children.

As a community-run kindy, we are proud of, and deeply value, the genuine sense of connection between our staff, children and families. We are committed to keeping child safety and wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do. We expect every member of our team to share that same commitment, and we’re looking for a new team member who is ready to be part of it.

About the role

We’re seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic and reliable Kindergarten Assistant/Educator to join our friendly team on a permanent part-time basis, working Thursdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays (8:00am – 3:36pm). This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working alongside children and wants to be part of a genuinely supportive, tight-knit workplace where the team operates cohesively and everyone genuinely loves what they do.

Starting mid-January 2027, you’ll work closely with our experienced Early Childhood Teacher/Director and other staff to help deliver a stimulating, caring and happy program for children in the lead-up to school.

Employment and remuneration for this position is covered by the Buderim Preschool and Kindergarten Association Inc. Early Childhood Enterprise Agreement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the delivery of our educational program alongside the Teacher and other educators.
  • Helping observe and document children’s learning and development.
  • Building genuine, positive relationships with all children and their families.
  • Preparing resources and activities, and keeping our spaces safe, tidy and inviting.
  • Contributing to a warm, welcoming environment every single day.
  • Keeping a close eye on the children to make sure they’re safely supervised at all times.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services.
  • Valid Blue Card or Exemption Card.
  • Current Senior First Aid/CPR including asthma and anaphylaxis.
  • Completion of the National Child Safety Training – Foundations of Child Safety courses 1 and 2 and Advanced Child Safety courses 3 and 4.
  • Willingness to complete Advanced Child Safety course 5.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A Police Check current within three months (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine warmth with children and families.
  • A team player who thrives in a close, supportive workplace.
  • Experience working with young children of a minimum three years of age and within a Community Kindergarten setting is an advantage.

If you’re after a workplace where you’ll be part of a genuinely close, supportive team, and where every day is spent helping little ones grow and learn in a place they love coming to, we’d love to hear from you!

For any further enquiries on the position and to submit your application (including at least 2 current referees) please email the Management Committee on [email protected]

We are a not for-profit organisation providing high quality childcare and Kindergarten programs, with a strong heritage in early childhood education in Queensland and Australia.

The Brisbane Lady Gowrie Childcare Centre was established in 1940 as a demonstration centre for excellence in early childhood education and care. We continue to be Qld’s leading provider of Community Kindergarten and Long Day Care services and uphold the highest standards in childcare.

Lady Gowrie QLD acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which our Kindergarten and childcare services are placed, and pay our respects to the elders, past and present, who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
