Getting Ready, and Set to go to school
We want to support you and your child as you prepare for the transition from kindy to school. Your child has learned so much at kindy, and you have lots to share with their new school. Find out how to share this information with the school using the kindy transition statement.
As we are in the second half of the year, we are starting to think about our families with children who will be leaving kindy to start school in 2020.
The Queensland Department of Education has lots of information and resources on The Early Years Count website to support you and your child during this major milestone.
“It’s so easy to share your child’s kindy transition statement with your new school. Simply sign the parent/carer consent form and your kindy will do the rest.”
We will be preparing your child’s Kindergarten transition statements in November. The statements are all about your child’s learning and development in kindy, and will include your suggestions to support your child’s positive transition from kindy to school.
You and your child will have an opportunity to contribute to the statements and include information about their unique strengths, abilities and motivations.
When you receive the transition statement you will have the option to sign the parent/carer consent form so that the kindy can send the transition statement directly to your child’s new school on your behalf.
This streamlines the process and will support the school to make sure that your child’s learning continues from kindy to Prep.
You can also use the statement to have conversations with the school about creating a welcoming place that meets the needs of you and your child.
