Novel Coronavirus Update from Department of Education, Australian Government – 2/02/2020
Please find below updated advice on Novel Coronavirus distributed by the Queensland Government, Department of Education, on the afternoon of Monday the 17th of February, 2020.
Service Managers are asked to ensure that all staff have been advised of this updated information and the updated letter for parents emailed to all families and displayed at the service.
Over the weekend the Queensland Government updated its advice on managing the Novel Coronavirus – COVID-19.
The main change which affects early childhood services is the removal of specific advice for children, teachers and workers to not attend childcare or kindergarten for 14 days after leaving Hong Kong.
Queensland Health has advised that Hong Kong is no longer a concern because it has strengthened its border controls with mainland China.
Updated self-quarantine advice (from 15 February 2020)

If you have been in, or transited through, mainland China in the past 14 days and are feeling unwell, see a doctor immediately.

If you have been in, or transited through, mainland China you must self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of departure

Dear parents and carers
Over the weekend Queensland Health updated its advice on managing the Novel Coronavirus – COVID-19 as follows:
- Children and families who have returned from Hong Kong in the past 14 days can attend childcare and do not need to self-quarantine
- Anyone who has been to, or transited from, mainland China in the past 14 days and is feeling unwell must see a doctor immediately
- Anyone who has returned from mainland China cannot attend childcare for 14 days from the date of departure.
You and your family can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practising good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene.
