About the centre

We welcome your family to Landsborough Kindergarten. We are a community kindergarten affiliate with The Gowrie QLD.  We believe that when families, staff and committee work together it makes it possible to provide the best possible learning environment for children.

We have a long history in our community. We opened in the 1950’s in the Methodist Hall, moving to the present site in 1965. Our current building was erected in 1993. We have a beautiful shady playground which invites the children to enter, explore, play and learn.

Each year we enrol 22 families. Our children attend Monday, Tuesday and alternating Wednesday’s from 8:30am  to 2:30pm and alternating Wednesday’s to Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

At Landsborough Kindergarten our teaching team is committed to providing a safe, caring, stimulating and educational environment for young children of Landsborough and surrounding districts.

We will be excited by and respectful of each child’s individual learning journey throughout their kindergarten year. We recognise that each child has their own learning style and we will nurture and respect their needs, abilities and ideas in a safe and secure environment.

We promote a flexible program that encourages and supports investigation, creativity, problem solving and independent exploration. Children are encouraged to participate in the planning of their program and environment.

Children learn through play and we will endeavour to provide an environment that is stimulating, challenging and builds upon each child’s interests, knowledge and skills. We recognise the importance of providing children with the opportunities for taking considered risk in a safe and suitable environment and will encourage and guide children to do so.

Providing a home-like environment is of high priority. We believe that families are their child’s first and most influential teachers and we will work in partnership to ensure we provide positive experiences for their child.

Each family is unique and we respect and embrace individual cultures and customs, traditions, life experience and welcome family participation.

We pay our respects to the Gubbi Gubbi people and their country, as the traditional owners of the land that hosts our kindergarten.
