About the centre
Our community kindergarten is in the heart of Kedron on Brisbane’s northside.
We offer a play-based Queensland Government approved kindergarten program for children to attend in their year prior to commencing prep. We have 2 group options – a 5-day fortnight (Monday, Tuesday and Alternate Wednesday 8.40am to 2.50pm) or a 4-day fortnight (Thursday and Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm). Both groups have term dates aligned with Queensland State Schools.
We are fortunate to have a number of primary schools in our local vicinity that our children move on to once their year with us is complete. These primary schools include Wavell Heights, Kedron, Somerset Hills, Wooloowin and Stafford State schools as well as St Anthony’s, Our Lady of Angels and Queen of Apostles Catholic schools.
At Kedron Heights Community Kindergarten, we value children as competent and capable individuals who come to kindy with unique knowledge and experiences. Within the Early Years Learning Framework, our qualified and experienced teachers deliver a Kindergarten program that has a strong focus on nature play. Numeracy and literacy experiences are imbedded within the program and tailored to suit the children as their skills develop throughout the year.
We are a 1 unit centre – so the children share their kindy year with the same group of 22 children. This consistency of teachers, educators and students, enables children to develop healthy rapport and attachment within their group. Our routines and processes then complement this social familiarity by being intentionally designed to enhance children’s sense of belonging and to encourage their increasing independence.
Our nature inspired outdoor play space is stimulating and provides endless opportunities for children to explore, challenge themselves and learn important social skills. Our children often participate in nature play activities amongst the adjacent parklands, as well as engage in other excursions throughout the year.
Our kindergarten is also built on strong connections with families, through parent committees, social events and regular written and verbal communication. We encourage you to find out more about our centre through our website or facebook.
