Part-time Kindergarten Teacher
Upper Mount Gravatt Kindergarten has an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our Kindergarten in a Part-Time role for Term 1 with the possibility to continue.
- Part time role: 5 day fortnight

About Our Kindergarten:
Upper Mount Gravatt Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community Kindergarten, affiliated with Lady Gowrie, which has been providing a play based early childhood program for nearly 60 years. Operated by a parent committee, Upper Mount Gravatt Kindergarten operates as a double-unit service, catering for Kindergarten children from 3 years to school entry.
Here at Upper Mount Gravatt Kindergarten, we are recognised for inclusion support and are a multicultural Kindy catering to the needs of the community. We are very lucky to have a natural outdoor area that provides children with an outlet to explore, be adventurous and engage in motor development experiences. We utilise the nearby bush reserve for Bush Kindy excursions.
We have a team of dedicated, friendly and qualified staff who encourage play-based learning using the Early Years Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines ensuring that children have a great start in their education.
The Teachers Role:
This is a part time position, working 37.5 hours over a fortnight. There is also the potential for additional teaching hours to support relief of our current teaching team. You will be working alongside a long-standing team of educators and teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and in particular, community kindergartens.
About you/ Key Criteria:
For this position we are looking for a leader who is passionate about working in a community Kindergarten and early childhood education setting. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their leadership qualities and ability to develop strong connections with the local community, families, children and colleagues. You will be well versed in your understanding of the EYLF, QKLG & NQF as well as have sound knowledge and understanding of the National Law & Regulations. The successful candidate will be passionate about play-based learning and have a sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary early childhood development and best practice. You will be committed to ongoing professional development and a demonstrated capacity to work alongside colleagues to continually improve and refine teaching and learning practices. The successful candidate will have demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high levelinterpersonal skills, including a capacity to develop constructive and respectful relationships with children, parents and other staff. They will also encompass excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
We are looking for an applicant who has:
- Completed Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), or equivalent, as recognised by ACECQA as an Early Childhood Teaching (ECT) qualification
- Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers prior to appointment. This registration must be renewed annually
- A current Blue Card or Exemption Card
- Current First Aid Certificate including Anaphylaxis and Asthma
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience leading an early childhood team or working within a community kindergarten setting
- Availability for staff meetings and community events/fundraising
