Bardon Community Kindy is a non-profit community organisation that has had an important presence in the Bardon Community for over 70 years. We are affiliated with Lady Gowrie Qld with two units that each week provide a place for living and learning for 88 children.
We are committed to providing genuine and quality early childhood education and care that is delivered by our team of highly qualified and dedicated staff. We offer a kindergarten program that is rated as exceeding the national quality standard for children aged 3.5 years to school age in the year prior to starting Prep.
We are situated in the heart of Bowman Park, along the banks of Ithaca Creek and our natural environment is a valued asset and focus within our program. Our children engage in authentic and emergent inquiry, work and play under the dappled light of our natural canopy.

A rare opportunity has become available for a Director to join our amazing team in a non-contact permanent part-time position. We are a double unit centre, which operates a Monday to Wednesday and a Thursday/Friday Kindergarten program. We also operate an outside hours care program both before and after the funded Kindy program hours.
About the Role:
This is a non-contact part-time position (over 3 days) working alongside a long standing and experienced team of teachers, educators and administrators who are passionate about early childhood education. There will be an opportunity for an extensive and ongoing handover with our current and long-standing Director who will remain teaching at Bardon Community Kindy. You will also be supported by the current management committee.
We are seeking an individual who possesses a passionate and progressive mindset in all aspects of early childhood education within in a high-quality learning environment. Further, we are looking for someone who will embrace the rich culture and philosophy of Bardon Community Kindy, including our passion for inclusion, reconciliation, sustainability and nature Play.
The role includes paid recess leave along with the expectation to attend committee and staff meetings with occasional evening or weekend events throughout the year.
The role will commence in January 2025, with the option to commence in Term 4 2024 if available.
Key Responsibilities include
- Be able to demonstrate experience in leadership and be well-versed in the understanding and application of the NQF, EYLF V2.0, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).
- Working collaboratively with Teachers, Educators, Support Staff, Administrators and Management Committee.
- Managing day to day operations in accordance with legislative requirements and Lady Gowrie Policies.
- Work with the admin team to effectively handle and manage the centre’s staffing rosters and financial requirements in line with budget guidelines.
- Providing leadership, mentorship and guidance to our dedicated teams as both nominated supervisor and educational leader.
- Be willing to relieve staff when needed to support continuity and consistency of practice and culture.
- Organise, facilitate and engage in ongoing professional development and a commitment to reflective practices.
- Supporting natural play settings and facilitation of our nature play culture, an inclusive environment, children’s right to play, and sustainable practices.
You will have
- Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent (ACECQA approved).
- Recognised First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification.
- Blue Card or Exemption Card.
- Prior teaching and senior leadership experience within the sessional community Kindy setting is essential.
- An incredible communication style with a natural ability and inclination to develop and foster genuine connections with children, parents and guardians, community networks, schools and allied health professionals.
